Natural Wood Handled Gourd Rattle 8"

This is a natural gourd rattle made by the Tarahumara Indians of the Sierra Madre region of Mexico. Popular for use in traditional prayer ceremonies during the Semana Santa festival, these simple rattles are made of a pine wood handle and natural gourd dome.

These primitive style rattles are popular for use in music, dance, or meditation and drumming circles. While they are simple to make, these ceremonial rattles are a rare find. They make great conversation pieces and perfect accents for rustic southwest style, western decor or art projects.
