Description
This unique stone bowl is carved from a genuine petrified wood fossil. Found all over the world, the most famous area of petrified wood deposits is located in northeast Arizona, at the Petrified Forest National Park.
During the late Triassic period (about 230 million years ago) tectonic movement and volcanic eruptions shifted the Arizona landscape, toppling the ancient forest of the region. Covered over layers of volcanic ash and accumulated rainwater, fallen trees were turned to stone through petrification, a process that replaces organic matter with sediment and minerals over millions of years.
This petrified wood bowl is perfect to display on any office desk or bookshelf, and will also make great, unique gifts.
Measures approximately 5.75" wide, 10" long and 2.5" tall. Actual stone tray shown.
