Description

This unique Maddagascar, ancient stone is a genuine petrified wood fossil. Found all over the world, the most famous area of petrified wood deposits is located in northeast Arizona, at the Petrified Forest National Park. 
 
During the late Triassic period tectonic movement and volcanic eruptions shifted the Arizona landscape, toppling the ancient forest of the region. Covered over layers of volcanic ash and accumulated rainwater, fallen trees were turned to stone through petrification, a process that replaces organic matter with sediment and minerals over millions of years. 
 
Polisshed on one end, petrified wood is perfect to display on any office desk or bookshelf, and will makes a great gift.
