Native Style Tarahumara Hoop Drum 12" dia.
This 12" diameter Native American style hoop drum is handcrafted by the famous Tarahumara Indians. This Native made Indian drum is one of the more popular sizes used for personal drumming. It is large enough to have a good sound but not so big as to be difficult to use. This style Indian drum is held vertically for drumming and works well for both men and women.
The Tarahumara Indians are said to be North Americas most primitive people, inhabiting caves and cliff dwellings. Native American drums are a very important part in their culture. Rawhide drums are used during their festivals as a call to gather the people and as an integral part of their ceremony.
This drum was crafted with a piece of native yellow pine bent into the shape of the drum. Rawhide is stretched over the sides of the drum ring to form a sturdy hand drum. Most all Native American cultures use drums and these Native Tarahumara hoop drums are perfect for drumming, rustic western or southwest decor and as a canvas for art projects. Photo is representative.
Measures approximately 12". A simple rustic drum beater from the maker is included.
