Description

Native American style Shaman drums of the famous Tarahumara Indians are Native made drums fashioned by hand. The Tarahumara are said to be North Americas most primitive people, inhabiting caves and cliff dwellings. This 16" diameter hand drum is by far the most popular hoop drum we offer and a favorite size for personal drumming, meditation and drumming circles.

The intermediate size allows for increased sound quality and can still be played with one hand holding it by the lacing on the back. The shaman hand drum is a piece of native yellow pine bent into the shape of the drum. Rawhide is stretched over one side, completely covering the drum ring to form a sturdy hand drum.

This single sided hand drum is laced on the back in the pattern of the four directions of American Indian tradition to form a handhold for drumming. Made by the Tarahumara Indians, this drum has a thin bent wood hoop and natural goat skin rawhide cover for light weight and excellent sound quality.

Perfect for both men and women, this hand drum works well for drumming while standing or sitting. Measures 16" diameter, picture is representative.

Authentic Native American, deer skin drum beater included at no extra charge. ($20 value)

    Authentic. Beautiful. Outstanding.

If you're looking for an authentic Native drum for any purpose, public or private, I recommend this drum from the Tarrahumara People of NW Mexico. Watching an anthropological study of their lives, I was pleased to see a drum and drum frames that are used to make these drums in their cliff dwelling homes. I will be most happy to use and enjoy this drum.
