Description
This mini 7" diameter Native American style hoop drum is handcrafted by the famous Tarahumara Indians. This Native made drum is popular for art and craft projects, and as a canvas for western cowboy and indian art. This drum can be played but doesn't have the deep sound of a larger drum.
The Tarahumara Indians are said to be North Americas most primitive people, inhabiting caves and cliff dwellings. Native American drums are a very important part in their culture. Large rawhide drums are used during their festivals as a call to gather the people and as an integral part of their ceremony.
This drum was crafted with a piece of native yellow pine bent into the shape of the drum. Rawhide is stretched over the sides of the drum ring. Photo is representative.
Measures approximately 7". A simple rustic drum beater from the maker is included.
