Tarahumara & Mexican Pottery

tarahumara pottery VaseTarahumara Indian pottery is a classic primitive style pottery. Located in the Sierra Madre mountains of northern Mexico, National Geographic Magazine called the Tarahumara, North America's most primitive people.

Their Native American style pottery is utilitarian, often primitive and represents a craft that Native potters have made for centuries.

Created by the pinch and coil method, Tarahumara Indian pots are made by hand without a wheel. The vase is formed by hand coiling clay for the shape of the vessel, then burnishing it with a piece of smooth wood or stone.

Perfect for country style, cabin, ranch, lodge style and rustic decor.
