| Exceptional Southwest Decor for Home, Office & Unique Gifts Native American Cochiti Pueblo Ceremonial Drum 8.5"x17" (c21)This is a genuine Native American ceremonial aspen log drum from the mountain forests of Cochiti Pueblo. Perfect for sweat lodge or hand drumming, this genuine rawhide hand drum uses the hollowed trunk of an aspen tree for the drum core and has heavy rawhide heads and lacing. This drum was made by hand by a drum maker who grew up in the Pueblo and learned his skill from his Uncle. It is becoming harder all the time to find Native American drums and handcrafts that are created in the traditional ways with natural materials. This Indian log hand drum was used during the annual ceremony on feast day by the drum maker. The leather handles were actually cut from his sandel's straps during the feast day ceremony. There is even a light smudge of red war paint on the handles, left from the ceremony. This drum has a lot of extra work with tapered ends and smooth sanded sides and is also perfect for drumming circles and meditation. Double sided drums usually have better results in a sweat lodge because the two sided covers keep their tone for drumming longer than a single sided hand drum. Native American handcrafted, Tribe: Cochiti Pueblo, actual drum is shown, measures 8.5" in diameter at the widest point and 17" tall, free drum beater is included.
