This Native American hand drum is made using strong durable cowhide. The maker carefully stretched and hand scraped the raw hide, then cut the head and lacing.

Rawhide is extremely strong requiring an equally strong hoop. This high quality hand drum uses a solid pine frame. Rawhide is very strong and requires an equally strong frame to provide the strength to create the sound desired. The head of the drum is laced to one side of the frame hoop using a traditional pattern. This design is perfect for drumming circles, sweat lodges and meditation. The 13" diameter is a common size because it works well for both standing and sitting.

This Native American frame drum is also prized by women, young people and anyone with a smaller build because it can be easily held comfortably for drumming. Native Americans often decorate their drums and this hoop drum has beautifully detailed Indian art hand painted on the drum head.
