| Exceptional Southwest Decor for Home, Office & Unique Gifts Lakota Painted Drum 16" Black Bonnet -4 Directions (pd74)![]() I was born on May 7, 1965, in Fort Yates, North Dakota; I am an enrolled member of the Standing Rock Sioux reservation of the Hunkpapa band of the Lakota Nation of the Running Antelope community of Little Eagle, South Dakota, and a descendant of the great Sioux Chief, Sitting Bull. Named after my grandfathers, William Kills Crow and Adrian Looking Elk, thus receiving my name as William Adrian Grindstone. I have been influenced by other Lakota artists such as Daniel Long Soldier, Jim Yellowbird and Del Iron Cloud and good friend Mitchell Zephier of Rapid City, South Dakota, and have been blessed to be able to give back to the Native American community. To me that is what becoming an artist is truly about, to give back what you have learned and never hold it for yourself otherwise it becomes egotistical and full of self. It has been my spiritual foundation to grow and flourish. ![]() This authentic one sided hand drum is a real Native drum that uses a pine wood frame to create the drum hoop and has a heavy cow hide head and lacing.
