Description

This is an authentic elk skin Native American ghost shirt, carefully created by a genuine American Indian artist of the Tigua Tribe. This decorative elk hide leather warrior shirt or ghost shirt as it is called represents a rich part of Indian history with great attention to detail, handcrafted with real leather. Used during the famous ghost dance, derived from the traditional circle dance, ghost shirts reflect a rich Native heritage.

The circle dance is the same as many traditional dances still performed today during Native American pow wows. Made with real leather, brass and horse hair, this rustic shirt is intended to be used as a southwestern style wall hanging. Intricately hand stitched, this war shirt has great eye appeal. American Indian war shirts were originally made using items found in battle. Rough cut elk skin leather gives this shirt its warm look and feel of rich quality. Genuine horse hair fringe adds to the rustic look of this leather shirt. This is a high quality warshirt that looks fantastic.

This shirt also includes a bone hair pipe breast plate and medicine wheels with the four directions of earth. Traditionally, each shirt would be unique to the wearer and would be decorated accordingly. Horse hair or fringe is almost always included, representing the wind to help move the warrior swiftly. This war shirt is a collector's work of art and comes ready to hang with a red wool wrapped hanger perfect for rustic wall decor, southwest style, cabin or western home decorating. Actual shirt is shown. Measures 65" wide, 42.5" tall, not including hanging fringe.
