Description

This is a unique southwestern Tarahumara Indian hand woven pine needle basket. This basket was made by the tarahumara Indians in the Copper Canyon region of northern Mexico. The Tarahumara are called the most primitive people in North America by National Geographic. It is amazing to see the weavers and consider the hours of intricate work in weaving a basket.

This Native technique of basket making is generations old and has become famous as one of the signatures of the Tarahumara. Handed down from each passing generation the art is preserved. Native  baskets are popular for southwestern decorating as well as western decor. These traditional pine needle baskets are made by hand and artfully woven. Handwoven baskets are great for southwest style, western decor and cabin, lodge or log home or for your special rustic or Native American room.

Measures approximately 7" wide, 8" tall

Actual basket is shown, Tribe: Tarahumara
