This large hoop drum measures 27 to 28" in diameter and is the Grand Daddy of Native hand drums. It is a huge drum with what can best be described as thunderous sound. Played vertically as is the Tarahumara tradition, this drum can be heard and it's percussion felt in an incredible way. This is our drum of choice for outdoor events and will deliver serious sound.
Native American hoop drums of the famous Tarahumara Indians are fashioned by hand. The Tarahumara Indians are said to be North Americas most primitive people, inhabiting caves and cliff dwellings.
Hoop drums are Native American drums, hand drums made with a piece of native yellow pine bent into the shape of the drum. Rawhide is stretched over both sides, of the drum ring to form a sturdy hand drum. Hoop drums, are held vertically by a rawhide handle on the lacing.
