Native American hoop drums of the famous Tarahumara Indians are fashioned by hand. The Tarahumara Indians are said to be North Americas most primitive people, inhabiting caves and cliff dwellings and use their Native American drums as a call to others. Hoop drums are hand drums made with a piece of native yellow pine bent into the shape of the drum. Rawhide is stretched over both sides, of the drum ring to form a sturdy hand drum. Hoop drums, are held vertically by a rawhide handle on the lacing.
